Cambridge authors win the AMS David P. Robbins Prize
Forum of Mathematics, Sigma authors awarded the prize for their groundbreaking research

This November, two Press authors received the AMS David P. Robbins Prize for their paper, q-Deformed Rationals and q-Continued Fractions, published in 2020. Researchers Sophie Morier-Genoud, from University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, and Valentin Ovsienko, from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Reims, published their article in Forum of Mathematics, Sigma and have now received this recognition for their groundbreaking work, which has inspired further research in the field.
The $5,000 prize, established in memory of David. P Robbins, is awarded both by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) to support authors' novel research in algebra, combinatorics, or discrete mathematics. Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko will receive the prize at the 2025 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle.Â
