Cambridge University Press shortlisted for two IPG Awards

IPA Awards image 2024

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories for this year’s Independent Publishing Awards: the HP Sustainability Award and the World of Books Impact Award.

This is the fourth time we have been shortlisted for the Sustainability Award since 2020, having won in 2020 and 2021. Our journals print reduction programme, which seeks to reduce carbon emissions associated with journals print operations whilst increasing accessibility, was recognised by the panel

The judges said:

“It’s great to see a big publisher setting ambitious targets on sustainability and show proper commitment to reaching them. The journals project shows how it’s breaking down big goals into achievable wins.”

Our nomination for the World of Books Impact Award is for the Cambridge Open Equity Initiative, which seeks to break down barriers to academic authors seeking to publish in open access. When shortlisting, judges said Cambridge “has seen the inequalities and barriers to academic publishing… it’s doing good things to make research output more diverse and equitable.”

The prestigious awards are run by the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG) and recognise the remarkable success of the independent publishing sector.

The winners of all the Awards will be revealed at a special gala lunch at the OXO Tower in London at on Wednesday 24 April.
