Each December, Choice, a part of the American Library Association, releases its list of Outstanding Academic Titles. This highly regarded collection highlights the best scholarly works, both print and digital, reviewed over the past year and is a mark of excellence within the academic library community.

The highly selective list features about ten percent of the approximately 5,000 works reviewed annually by Choice

Criteria include:

  • overall excellence in presentation and scholarship

  • importance relative to other literature in the field

  • distinction as a first treatment of a given subject in book or electronic form

  • originality or uniqueness of treatment

  • value to undergraduate students

  • importance in building undergraduate library collections

Congratulations to the authors of our 46 books awarded the 2024 Choice 'Outstanding Academic Title'.

“It is just terrific to see us sweep the board again with another armful of ‘outstanding title’ Choice awards. We pride ourselves on being at the top of the game for research publishing across a whole range of disciplines, and our consistently high yield in these annual library awards are a quantitative external marker of that excellence.”

- Ben Denne, Director of Publishing, Books
