Focus on tech innovation at Cambridge 'Digital & Data Day'

In a hybrid event on Tuesday, 14 March, Cambridge colleagues around the world gathered to share ideas, spark conversation, and learn about the incredible things our teams continue to achieve with digital and data.

From digital high stakes assessments, augmented reality and online learning to open access journals, tackling post-covid learning loss and digital accessibility, teams across Cambridge University Press & Assessment are transforming learning and shaping education.

Over 500 colleagues in Cambridge attended the third ‘Digital & Data Day’ we have hosted as a single organisation, along with over 400 attending exhibitions and breakout sessions in our Manila office, and many more joining online from across the globe.

Over 500 colleagues attended the event in-person in Cambridge to watch a range of short talks and keynote speeches.

The day consisted of over 50 short talks from our own digital and data experts, generating discussions around the work that is powering the future of our products and services.

Alongside our own colleagues’ talks, we welcomed three external guest keynote speakers: Philip Regier, University Dean for Educational Initiatives and CEO of EDPlus at Arizona State University (ASU); Jason Yung, Principal of Analytics Platforms at Amazon Web Services; and Dr Olatunde Amoo Durowojo, Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion for the Faculty of Business and Law at Liverpool John Moores University.

In-person symposiums hosted by our expert teams on three key topics: AI in education, digital high stakes assessments and digital sustainability expanded on the day’s themes and demonstrated how innovation continues to drive forward our ambition to deliver even more effectively for the learners, teachers and researchers we serve.

There were also 16 exhibitions stands at our Triangle building in Cambridge providing attendees with opportunities to learn more about how digital and data is and will be used by our different teams.

Mark Maddocks, our Chief Technology Officer, said:

Every year Digital & Data Day gets bigger and better. It gives us the chance to celebrate and learn more about how our organisation is flexing to meet the rapid pace of change in the digital landscape. No matter where in the organisation you're from, the day provided you with a touchpoint to inspire and inform your work.
