Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s office in the Philippines has earned 'Great Place to Work®’ certification.

The award was given to Cambridge’s Manila office following a survey by the Great Place to Work® team of all our colleagues working in the Philippines. The Great Place to Work® certification aims to build better working experiences by helping organisations develop a high-trust, high-performance culture through employee evaluation and feedback.

Great Place to Work® is a global expert on workplace culture. They apply data and insights from millions of employees working in around 10,000 organisations across the world every year to benchmark performance of organisations around the world.

Putting our people at the centre

General Manager of our Manila operations, Ronnie Mañalac, said:

This is fantastic recognition for the work we have done over the past few years to develop a people-centred culture. Cambridge is proud to put our people first in everything we do and despite the adjustments we’ve all had to make over a challenging couple of years, that central value has remained strong.

Colleagues in the Philippines were asked a total of 60 questions to measure their sense of credibility, respect, pride, camaraderie, and fairness in the workplace. The results were then analysed by Great Place to Work®, which found that 90 percent of those who took the survey felt that overall, Cambridge is a great place to work.

Our Chief Information Officer, Mark Maddocks has worked closely with the Manila branch for many years, said: "This is a brilliant result! As our second largest office, Manila plays a vital role within our organisation and the fact they’ve achieved this status helps move the whole of Cambridge forward."

Leading the way

Gianina Ona, our Employee Experience Specialist in the Philippines, played a key role in the project. She said: "This is a really gratifying milestone because it’s measured against an industry standard and tells us categorically that we’re moving in the right direction."

Janet Scotcher, our Chief People Officer said:

It’s inspiring to see the Manila team gain this recognition which is certainly a fantastic step on our journey to becoming a top employer. It’s very important that we work to achieve these high standards in all our offices all over the world. Our ambition is to build a safe, inclusive and fun place to work for everyone and we will now build towards gaining the Great Place to Work® certification across the whole organisation.
