Educational Research - Home

Research is at the heart of everything we do

The Research Division conducts and publishes authoritative research to support innovation and quality assurance across Cambridge’s products and services and to influence thinking and policy on education, learning and assessment globally.

We increase knowledge and understanding about assessment and curriculum development, allowing us to help teachers, learners and governments fulfil the potential of education.

Established in 1994, our research team includes social scientists, statisticians and assessment and curriculum specialists. The team carry out a variety of qualitative and quantitative research including:

  • Curriculum design and evaluation
  • Assessment design and evaluation, including accessibility, reliability and validity
  • Setting and maintaining standards, and monitoring comparability
  • Research methods

Our work covers many different aspects of learning and assessment, including general and vocational, formative and summative, formal and non-formal, and paper-based and digital. We share our research extensively, including through our own publication, Research Matters.
