CAMDEX is a diagnostic assessment which provides a way to identify dementia, and to differentiate it from other common disorders and the normal processes of ageing. It may be administered in the community or in hospital by doctors or other mental health professionals. CAMDEX-R is the newly-revised version of this internationally acclaimed instrument. For the first time, the range of information required for differential diagnosis of the varying forms of dementia is available in a single standardized interview and examination. CAMDEX-R consists of two structured interviews to ascertain the history and presentation of the disorder and a mini neuropsychological battery with a range of cognitive tests: CAMCOG. CAMCOG has been updated to cover more recently born cohorts and further examination of executive function. Includes a CD-ROM containing PDFs of the scoresheets for download and replication.

    • Internationally-recognised instrument
    • Devised and tested by Sir Martin Roth and colleagues
    • Revised and updated to include differential diagnosis of newly identified forms of dementia
    • Suitable for use with younger cohorts and including extended executive function tests
    • Includes data input disk for ease of information storage and analysis
    • Useful in community and hospital settings

    Reviews & endorsements

"The Camdex system provides high interrater reliability, with high sensitivity and specificity of the cognitive exam. It has been well standardized and validated, and the present revised version incorporates a decade of experience...geriatric consultants and researchers are likely to find the Camdex extremely helpful and user-friendly." Journal of Clinical Psychiatry

"Achieves the important goal of bringing CAMDEX into the next century without affecting the integrity of the original, meaning that studies using the new and old CAMDEX can be compared. There are no other instruments available which systematically integrate all aspects of clinical investigation of dementia, making it the instrument of choice when dementia must be diagnosed with consistency and efficiency."
