Baralam and Yewasef

Originally published in 1923, this book by highly esteemed Orientalist Ernest Wallis Budge contains the Ethiopic text of the tale of Baralâm and Yĕwâsĕf, a Christianized version of the Buddhist legend of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. The story was reproduced from two manuscripts in the British Museum, and any variations in the texts are noted at the bottom of each page. This book will be of value to students of Ethiopic and anyone with an interest in the transmission and adaptation of folklore.
