The Mind of John Locke
John Locke (1632SH1704) is a central figure in the history of liberal doctrine. His mind spanned questions concerning Christian worship, ethics, political economy, medicine, human understanding, revealed theology, and education. The effect of this study is both to show how the character of his wider concerns informed The Two Treatises of Government and to indicate how his political theory, in its turn, contributed to the further development of his vision. The book therefore offers the first fully integrated study of the mind of John Locke.
- One of the most complex and most important studies of the thought of John Locke
- Relates what Locke thought about religion, education, medicine, ethics, and other topics, to his political thought
- A major addition to the really essential literature on one of the most central figures in the history of thought

"There is much of interest in Harris's argument." Journal of Modern History
"The thrust of Harris' superb scholarship is to find consistency and interrelatedness where some have emphasized inconsistencies and contradictions, and its main value is to illuminate the interplay of religion and politics in Locke's mind." Choice
