Cambridge connects experts in new Board to drive innovation and impact

Cambridge Partnership for Education welcomes six sector leaders to inaugural Advisory Board.

Partnership Advisory Board

The Partnership for Education’s new Advisory Board will support Cambridge’s mission to make education transformation a reality for governments around the world and generate positive impact.

Dr Hanan Khalifa, Director of Education Transformation and Impact, Cambridge Partnership for Education, chairs the Board, and is joined by six inaugural members for 2021-22: Rt. Hon. Charles Clarke, former Home Secretary and Secretary of State for Education, UK; Clare Woodcraft, Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy, University of Cambridge; Professor Mmantsetsa Marope, Executive Director of the World Heritage Group; Professor Pauline Rose, Professor of International Education and Director of Research for Equitable Access and Learning Centre (REAL Centre), University of Cambridge; Professor Rose Luckin, Professor of Learner Centred Design at University College London Knowledge Lab; and Simon Collis CMG, former British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and Qatar and British Consul-General in Dubai and in Basra.

Cambridge Partnership for Education Advisory Board 2021-22

Rt Hon Charles Clarke is the former Home Secretary and Secretary of State for Education, UK. Charles Clarke has provided consultancy for Cambridge in the education reform sector for a number of years. He is engaged at the forefront of the conversation on politics, migration and education.

Clare Woodcraft is Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Clare Woodcraft has over 25 years of experience working in the field of socio-economic development and philanthropy in emerging markets. She is the former CEO of Emirates Foundation, and earlier served as Deputy Director of Shell Foundation.

Professor Mmantsetsa Marope is Executive Director of the World Heritage Group, and was formerly Director of the UNESCO International Bureau of Education. Professor Marope has 10 years of experience at the World Bank, 11 years teaching at the University of Botswana, and two years as Executive Secretary of ERNESA (Educational Research Network in Eastern and Southern Africa).

Professor Pauline Rose is Professor of International Education at the University of Cambridge, Director of Research for Equitable Access and Learning Centre (REAL Centre) and Senior Research Fellow at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Professor Rose’s research includes focuses on educational inequality, education financing and governance, role of the state and non-state providers, and policies for reaching the marginalised.

Professor Rose Luckin is Professor of Learner Centred Design at University College London (UCL) Knowledge Lab in London, and Director of EDUCATE, a hub for Educational Technology start-ups, researchers and educators. Professor Luckin’s research involves the design and evaluation of educational technology using theories from the learning sciences and techniques from Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Simon Collis CMG is the former British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and Qatar and British Consul-General in Dubai and in Basra. A member of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office since 1978, serving mainly in the Middle East and South Asia, he specialises in the Middle East, Arabic, political risk and relationship management, and trade and investment development.
