Mechanics of Aero-structures is a concise textbook for students of aircraft structures, which covers aircraft loads and maneuvers, torsion and bending of single cell, multi-cell and open thin-walled structures. Static structural stability, energy methods, and aero-elastic instability are discussed. Numerous examples and exercises are included to enhance the students' facility with structural analysis. This textbook is meant for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students in the aerospace and aeronautical engineering programs, and the material included can be covered in a one semester course. A sufficient number of figures are included for the clarity of the subject matter. The book begins with a description of aerodynamic loads to motivate students, and includes an in-depth description of energy methods - an essential topic.

    • Opens with a description of aerodynamic loads to motivate students
    • Offers a comprehensive description of energy methods - a key topic
    • Includes separate chapters on torsion and bending - single cell to multi-cell structures are carefully developed

    Reviews & endorsements

'This book has been written with the intention of providing a concise text on the mechanics of aircraft structures for third and fourth year undergraduate students studying in aerospace and aeronautical engineering. The book is nicely presented and is well illustrated. It includes several worked examples to outline the application of the theoretical analyses procedures developed in the various chapters of the book and provides numerous exercises to be carried out by the student to enhance and facilitate the students' knowledge and understanding of how the structural systems work. The book provides an online resource which gives solutions to the student exercises. This is password protected for lecturers who will use the book to teach aero-structures.'
