Towards a more inclusive workplace
We serve many millions of students, teachers and researchers around the world. We do so with a clear mission: ‘to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence’.
We can best fulfil that mission when each of our nearly 7,000 colleagues can give their best. That means nurturing an inclusive working culture, where everyone feels supported and empowered to fulfil their potential. We want to foster a working culture characterised by fairness, transparency and equity. One where gender does not influence career progression or compensation. Across our organisation, we are taking actions to enable this. In some areas, as our reporting shows, we’ve made strong progress. In others, our values mean we have to go further – and at pace. We are determined to do so.
From 'pay' to 'opportunity': measuring and tackling the gap

To satisfy our statutory obligation to the UK Government, we also publish a separate Gender Pay Gap report for OCR. Our data is also included within the University of Cambridge Gender Pay Gap Report.
We are moving towards a new method for reporting that will help us address this area even more effectively. From next year, we will be focusing on what we call the 'gender opportunity gap' as the key measure. This shift will enable deeper insights across the business and inform leadership teams about where action is most needed. Closing the gender opportunity gap is one important way in which we will help more colleagues feel they can pursue their potential with us, regardless of their background or identity. And getting this right will help us better represent and engage with the more than 100 million learners we serve around the world.
