Strategic Reading 2nd Edition
Strategic Reading Second edition is a three-level series designed to develop reading, fluency, vocabulary-building, and critical-thinking skills.
Each level contains 12 thematic units with three reading passages adapted from authentic sources. The readings are skillfully adapted so that they are appropriate for their intended level but retains the essential characteristics of the original with less and less adaptation as the levels go higher, with the readings in Level 3 only lightly adapted. The readings inspire plentiful pre- and post-reading discussion and build students' overall reading proficiency. Pre-reading tasks build students' schema on the topic of the reading and teach them to skim and scan the text before reading in depth. Expanded post-reading activities help students develop essential critical thinking skills. Speed reading tasks help students build their overall reading fluency. The Teacher's Manuals provide a model lesson plans, teaching suggestions, cultural notes, additional vocabulary notes, and quizzes for each unit.
