• Much of the course is auto-marked and teachers can easily track the progress of individual students or see the performance of the whole class at a glance. 
• For productive speaking and writing tasks that are submitted to the teacher, giving a score and feedback is simple and can be done just as easily on a smartphone as on a laptop or desktop computer. 
• Ready-made  synchronous lessons and teaching notes for in-person and virtual classes are another great time-saving feature. They both minimize time spent on lesson preparation and are also flexible enough to be quickly and easily adapted to meet your specific teaching needs.

The course is perfect when students are studying remotely and teachers simply need to monitor their progress. However, the ready-made synchronous lessons and guidance mean that combining independent, online learning with synchronous, teacher-led classes is simple.

Up to four hours of lesson content per unit is provided, and teachers can use as much or as little of this as they need to.

The synchronous lessons have a particular focus on communicative language practice, as we know from research that opportunities to speak with peers and with the teacher are particularly important to students.

Students and teachers expect digital content to be just as accessible on their smartphones as on a laptop or desktop computer.

• Evolve Digital keeps students motivated with plenty of variety in language input and practice activities, making the most of multimedia, including lots of video. This helps to sustain engagement and get the very best outcomes. 
• The video content includes animated grammar presentations, dramas, documentaries, “person-on-the-street" videos, and short clips from “real students” and, at the higher levels, “expert speakers” who act as near-peer role models. These role models can be particularly valuable to students who are reluctant to speak, showing what’s achievable at their level and giving them the confidence and space to develop their speaking skills freely.  

Video that sustains engagement

Studying online can sometimes feel very lonely, so we have included features to help guide and support students through their independent learning and keep them motivated.

• Content includes "real teacher" videos at the start and end of each unit which introduce the learning objectives and reflect on what’s been achieved, plus lots of friendly encouragement and carefully worded introductions to tasks.
• Timely, relevant, and helpful feedback is also key to keeping students motivated. This needs to go beyond marking answers right and wrong, so we’ve incorporated regular feedback that also explains the answers. 
• Unit progress tests and mid-term and end-of-course final tests provide additional ways for students and their teachers to measure progress and success. This progress is clearly displayed in user-friendly, intuitive dashboards on Cambridge One. 

Regardless of where and how they’re studying, we know that students consider their ability to speak as evidence of their progress in English.

The Student’s Course therefore makes use of the latest speech recognition technology, building students’ confidence to interact in real-world scenarios. 

Unlike many other online courses, speaking skills are very much at the heart of the course.  You’ll find a combination of automated speaking activities built into the Student’s Course, productive speaking tasks that can be recorded and submitted to the teacher for feedback, and lots of great, communicative teaching materials in the optional, teacher-led lessons in the Teacher’s Companion.
